WACO, Texas - Baylor senior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) was named Big 12 Men's Golfer of the Month and sophomore Sian Reddick (Folkestone, England) was named Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month for November as the Bears swept the awards, the league office announced Wednesday.
Baca tied for second with a 54-hole total of 214 in the University of Hawaii Fall Invitational at the par-72 Kanehoe Klipper Golf Club. He fired an opening-round 68 followed by a pair of 73s, but fell short of the title in a four-man playoff. Baca leads the team with a 71.50 stroke average and has three top-10 finishes this fall.
Reddick tied for fifth at the Kent Youel Invitational with a 224. The sophomore started out with an even-par 72, followed by rounds of 74 and 75. It was Reddick's second top-five finish of the season. She is currently second on the team with a 74 stroke average for the fall.
Both players earned the award for the first time in their careers. The men continue to hold strong at the No. 22 spot in the latest Golfweek rankings, while the women rank 30th.
Both the Baylor men's and women's teams return to action Feb. 20-21, the men at the Roadrunner Intercollegiate in San Antonio, Texas, and the women at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla.
