Mike Fenwick took a job as an assistant coach at Penn State University after serving one year as the volunteer assistant coach for
the Baylor men's tennis team during the 2009-10 season.
Fenwick came to the Baylor program after spending four years as an
assistant coach at Western Illinois University. During his time at WIU, the
Leathernecks had both a Mid-Con Newcomer of the Year and a Mid-Con
Player of the Year, and won the first Summit League regular season men's
championship. WIU also won a Mid-Con Tournament title and made its
first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2006.
While serving as an undergraduate assistant in the 2005-06 season,
Fenwick graduated from Western Illinois with a bachelor's degree in
business administration and then went on to earn his master's degree in
recreation, parks and tourism administration in 2009.
Prior to his time at WIU, Fenwick was a teaching tennis professional in
his native Dixon, Ill. He has also worked summer tennis camps run by
the Naval Academy and Pepperdine University.
Fenwick played at Quincy University in 2004-05, after spending backto-
back years at Sauk Valley Community College (2002-03) and Illinois
Valley Community College (2003-04).
Fenwick is the middle child of five and has an older brother, Chad,
who is a collegiate coach at Upper Iowa University.
