WACO, Texas- Eighth-ranked Baylor played a near-perfect match, winning every set of every match en route to a 7-0 blanking of No. 60 New Mexico State in ITA Indoor qualifying on Saturday at the Hurd Tennis Center.

Baylor, hosting a four-team qualifying site for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, will move on to face No. 42 Florida State, who defeated No. 37 Rice 5-2. The teams will battle for a berth in the indoor national championship on Feb. 17-20 in Charlottesville, Va.

The Bears' win on Saturday came without a set lost, winning all 12 sets in six singles matches and both sets that finished in doubles matches. The singles portion of the match even featured to double-blankings with two players earning 6-0, 6-0 wins.

"I thought it was a super bounce-back match for us after the Florida match," head coach Matt Knoll said. "I thought we had some super performances, won some matches zero and zero, which is hard to do. It's hard to beat a good team 7-0. We know the competition is going to be better tomorrow, so we're going to have to go out there and be excited to play."

On Court 1, Baylor's top-ranked player, No. 20 Mate Zsiga, was dominant in his 6-0, 6-0 win over NMSU's Matej Stakne, while Kike Grangeiro was equally impressive in his 6-0, 6-0 win over Felipe Frattini on Court 5.

Freshman Marko Krickovic and sophomore Robert Verzaal each had the most entertaining matches of the day. Krickovic came back from down 4-1 in the first set to force a tiebreak. In the tiebreak, he faced an early one-point deficit, but scored six in a row to defeat Germain Degardin 7-6 (2), 6-3. Verzaal, meanwhile, was down a break in each of his sets, but came back to win the first 7-5 and the second 6-4. He won three straight games to end each set.

No. 54 Roberto Maytin played a solid all-around game to defeat the Aggies' Marc Westgate on Court 2, 6-2, 6-1. Senior Julian Bley stepped in on Court 6 for a 6-2, 6-2 win over Eduardo Carbrita.

In doubles, Baylor's duos on Courts 2 and 3 were able to take wins to earn the point for the Bears. On Court 2, Maytin and Zsiga handled the duo of Westgate and Frattini 8-4, while Kike Grangeiro and Julian Bley stepped in on Court 3 to take an 8-5 victory.

Baylor will be back on the court on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center, taking on Florida State for a coveted berth to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
