Men's Tennis Defeats No. 37 Washington, 7-0

WACO, Texas- Fourth-ranked Baylor defeated No. 37 Washington 7-0 in men's tennis Friday at the Baylor Tennis Center.


The Bears took the early lead with doubles team Lars Poerschke and Dominik Mueller winning over Andy Kultarszky and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan 8-4.  David Gallic and Jordan Rux secured the point for the Bears with an 8-3 win over Derek Drabble and Patrik Fischer.       


The men went on to win all six of their singles matches.  Dominik Mueller earned the Bears first singles victory over Derek Drabble 6-2, 6-1.  Gwen Corches clenched Baylor's win by defeating Tobi Obenaus 6-3, 6-1.  No. 80 David Galic came back from a first set lost to overcome Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan 1-6, 6-4, 7-5.




"We played better and improved today," said head coach Matt Knoll.  "Washington is a better team, but it was really a good night for us; something to build on and move forward from."         


The Bears are now 5-0 for the season and will finish their six-match home streak Sunday against No. 14 Florida at 2 p.m.
