STANFORD, Calif. - The All-American doubles tandem of John Peers and Roberto Maytin advanced to the NCAA Doubles Championship quarterfinals on Friday at Stanford, Calif., and in doing so, become just the second Baylor doubles team to advance to the tournament quarterfinals.

Peers and Maytin, ranked No. 5 nationally, defeated 29th-ranked Jason Jung and Evan King of Michigan, 7-6 (5), 6-2. The victory marked pair's 13 straight win and raised their record to 35-5 which includes a 19-4 mark against ranked opponents.

Peers and Maytin join Benedikt Dorsch and Reiner Neurohr as the program's only doubles teams to advance the to tournament's quarterfinals. Dorsch and Neurohr lost in the 2003 quarterfinals.

The tandem will now face the third-seeded and fourth-ranked Texas A&M team on Jeff Dadamo and Austin Krajicek. Peers and Maytin downed the Aggie duo 8-4 on April 20 at Waco. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. (Pacific)/4 p.m. (Central).
