Senior Mark Williams dropped his first round match at River Oaks on Friday in three sets.

HOUSTON - Both Baylor representatives in the River Oaks Intercollegiate Clay Court Invitational lost their first round matches Friday afternoon.

Senior Mark Williams lost in three sets to Oggie Kolev of Arkansas, 6-2, 7-6, 6-3. The loss sends Williams, ranked No. 68 in the nation in preseason rankings, to the consolation bracket. There, he will face Texas Tech's Royce Ramey Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the consolation quarterfinals.

Junior Csongor Bibza lost in straight sets to Rice's Fabien Giraud, 6-3, 6-3. Bibza will play fourth-seed Cody Hubbell of Texas A&M on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Hubbell is ranked 59th in the nation in the ITA rankings, but was upset by SMU's Alexis Rudzinski, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the first round.

The tournament is the first action of the year for the Baylor men's tennis team. The women's tennis team begins play Tuesday, with three players attending the ITA Clay Courts in Baltimore.
