Baylor's Attila Bucko and David Galic each won second-round matches on Saturday to advance in the prequalifying draw of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Galic, a junior, downed Derek Difazio of Clemson 7-6, 6-2 and Bucko, a sophomore, eliminated Miami's Vivek Subramanian 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Galic will now play the prequalifying draw's No. 3 seed, David Kuczer of SMU. Kuczer won the right to play Galic with a victory over Clemens Geercken of Oral Roberts. Bucko will face Danny Dossetor of the Citadel who advanced by posting a win over Iowa's J.P. Ritchie. Both Baylor player's matches will begin at 11 a.m.
Junior Matt Brown, sophomores Denes Lukacs and Dominik Mueller and freshman Jordan Rux were selected for the qualifying tournament which begins on Monday, Oct. 1. The draw for this tournament will be posted on Sunday, Sept. 30.
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2007-08 collegiate tennis season, and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the third event is the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
This year's event is being hosted by the University of Tulsa for the third straight time, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center - site of the 2004 and 2008 NCAA Championships.
