STAT OF THE DAY
The loss snaps a two-match win streak for Schneider that included a first round win in this event as well as a win in a back draw matchup of the HEB Invitational.
“I think we saw some typical freshman mistakes today. It was a bit of a roller coaster. He got off to a really slow start and he got down 3-0 within a couple of minutes and he did a really good job of coming back and won the first set 6-4. He went up on the break in the second and looked like he was in charge of the match. Then he had a sloppy third game and ended up putting his opponent back on serve and from then on I thought he lost confidence and unfortunately he couldn’t recover from that. Give his opponent a lot of credit, he stuck around and showed the maturity level of an experienced player.” –Dominik Mueller, assistant coach on Schneider’s performance in Sunday’s match.
The ITA All-American Championships continue on Monday with qualifying action that will feature three more Baylor players including Mate Zsiga, Diego Galeano and Tony Lupieri. Matches in the qualifying round will begin tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. with Lupieri taking on Bruno Semenzato of Duke. Galeano faces Alabama’s Becker O’Shaughnessey, while Zsiga battles Marco Nunez of Florida State at 2 p.m.
