TULSA, Okla. - Baylor's men's tennis junior Mate Zsiga secured a place in the third  round of the ITA All-American Championships qualifying draw on Tuesday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The 60th-ranked Zsiga got off to a fast start vs. BYU's Francis Sargeant winning the first set 6-2, but dropped the second set 1-6. After being tied 3-3 in the third, Zsiga rattled off three straight games to clinch the deciding set 6-3. Zsiga's win sets up a third round qualifying match with No. 67 Harrison Adams of Texas A&M on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
Two other Bears were in action on Monday competing in the consolation draw. No. 79 Tony Lupieri defeated Dylan McCloskey of Tulsa 6-2, 6-2. Mate Zsiga has only dropped three games in first sets of this ITA event .

"Mate had a really good start, but lost focus in the second set. He did a good job bouncing back in the third. It was a really close third set. Each player held for 3-all and then Mate just ran away with it. I think that shows his mental and physical toughness to be able to finish off an opponent." - Dominik Mueller, Baylor assistant coach on Mate Zsiga

"It is always good to end the tournament on a positive note and Tony and Diego did that by winning in straight sets. They did a great job of bouncing back from yesterday's losses. They were able to start fast and come up with high intensity." - Dominik Mueller, Baylor assistant coach on Diego Galeano and Tony Lupieri

Mate Zsiga will face No. 67 Harrison Adams of Texas A&M on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. The winner of that match will need to win one more contest in order to claim a spot in the main draw.
