MANSFIELD, Texas. - The Baylor men's tennis team opened play in the Futures of Mansfield Men's $15k tournament with three of its four student-athletes taking straight-set wins on Saturday to move on in the event at the Walnut Creek Country Club.
The third-seeded and 38th-ranked Julian Lenz began the day with a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win over Jordan Dyke. Lenz's victory sets up a second round matchup with Bandon Donaldson who posted a 7-6(4), 6-4 first round victory over Karim Arem.
No. 60 Mate Zsiga also advanced to the second round by defeating Marek Pesicka 6-2, 6-2. His win sets up a second round matchup with Venezuela's Luis Fernando Ramirez who defeated Mitchel Hollingsworth 6-0, 6-0 in first round action.
Freshman Vince Schneider reached the second round with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Gandhi Bhakthavachalam. He will face Robert Verzaal who is also a member of the Baylor team, but is not playing with the Bears during the fall semester. Verzaal reached the second round by getting past Gerardo Kamel, 6-2, 6-3.
The 16th-ranked Patrick Pradella was the only Bear not to advance to the second round. He fell to Rifat Biktyakov, 7-6(4), 6-0.

All three Baylor players will be back in action on Sunday at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the second round of qualification. Mate Zsiga will face off against Luis Fernando Ramirez on court two, while Vince Schneider will square off against fellow Baylor teammate Robert Verzaal on court one. Lenz is slated to face off against Brandon Donaldson on court three.
