INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- Baylor men's tennis went 2-2 on day two of the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif. Thursday.
In doubles, second-seeded Johannes Schretter and Will Little prevailed in the nightcap against Mississippi State's Niclas Braun and Trevor Foshey, winning 1-6, 6-2, 13-11 to advance to the quarterfinal round on Friday.
In singles, No. 68 Jimmy Bendeck rebounded from yesterday's opening round loss to take a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Mohanad Al Houni of Gustavus Adolphus in the consolation first round.
In the main draw, No. 40 and eighth-seeded Schretter fell in the second round to Virginia's Aswin Lizen, 6-0, 6-2. He finishes the tournament with a 1-1 record.
Then, Bjoern Petersen couldn't hold on in a three-set thriller against Tennessee's Timo Stodder, falling 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the main draw second round. He finishes the fall season with a 1-1 singles record.
Moving into the consolation round of 16, Bendeck will play Nicolas Moreno de Alboran of UC Santa Barbara at 12:30 p.m. CT Friday afternoon. If he advances, he will also play the quarterfinals scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT.
In doubles, second-seeded Petersen and Little match up against Wake Forest's Petros Chrysochos and Skander Mansouri at 5:30 p.m. CT.
