Baylor men's tennis will return to competition after a 15-day break when the Bears hit the road to take on the UT-Arlington Mavericks on Tuesday, Feb. 14.The match will be played at Dallas' Los Colinas Country Club and will begin at 8 p.m.
The Bears have been idle since hosting qualifying for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships two weeks ago. Baylor advanced to the Championships and will begin play on Friday in Charlottesville, Va., at the Boar's Head Tennis Club. The 16-team tournament is set to run Friday through Monday, Feb. 17-20.
Baylor, currently ranked No. 7 in the ITA rankings, owns a 3-1 record with wins over Florida State, New Mexico State and Louisiana and a loss to Florida.
The Bears are led on the season by 20th-ranked Mate Zsiga. The freshman from Szeged, Hungary, owns the team's top singles record at 18-3 and 4-0 in dual match competition. Junior Roberto Maytin, a doubles All-American last season, is ranked No. 54 in singles is 13-6 on the season and 3-1 in dual matches. Freshman Lars Behlen is the final Bear to reach double-digits so far with a 10-6 singles mark.
The Mavericks are 2-1 on the year after posting home wins over Centenary, Cameron and losing at Arkansas.
