Sophomore Denes Lukacs is Baylor's top ranked singles player at No. 14.

WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's tennis team is ranked No. 16 and Denes Lukacs, Lars Poerschke, David Galic and Dominik Mueller are among the top 125 nationally in the March 18 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. In addition, Galic paired with Jordan Rux and Lukacs to rank in doubles.
The Bears, 10-7 on the season, have played an extremely tough schedule so far in 2008. Of the Bears' seven losses, six have come at the hands of teams currently ranked in the ITA's top 15: No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 6 UCLA, No. 9 USC, No. 13 North Carolina and No. 15 Pepperdine.
Lukacs, a sophomore, checks in as the Bears' highest ranked player at No. 14. Lukacs currently has a team-leading 30-9 season mark and is 10-4 in dual match play. Two-time All-American Lars Poerschke, a senior who has been sidelines of late by an ankle injury, is ranked No.22 with a 13-4 overall record, he is 8-4 in dual matches at the No. 1 slot. Junior David Galic, with his 17-13 season record, is No. 102 and sophomore Dominik Mueller, at 22-8, is listed at No. 107.
Galic is a part of two ranked doubles tandems. He and Rux, a freshman, are No. 50 with a 10-5 dual match record and he is No. 60 when paired with Lukacs.

The Bears are idle until Thursday, March 27, when they play a double-header, hosting Hardin-Simmons at 1 p.m. and 56th-ranked SMU at 6 p.m. The Hardin-Simmons match was added recently. In addition, the Bears have added another match on Saturday, March 29. On that day Baylor will play an 11 a.m. match against a yet-to-be-named opponent and will take on Old Dominion at 6 p.m., both matches will be at the Baylor Tennis Center.
