WACO, Texas –The seventh-ranked Baylor men’s tennis team will host 28th-ranked Texas Tech on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center to begin Big 12 Conference play.
“We are excited to get started with conference play,” said head coach Matt Knoll. “We are kind of late to the party with other teams playing conference matches already.”
The Bears (17-4) enter the weekend matchup coming off a shutout win against No. 25 South Florida to stretch their win streak to nine matches. The current Baylor win streak includes six wins against teams currently ranked 40 or higher, and four wins against teams currently ranked in the top-20.
Baylor currently has four singles competitors ranked in the latest ITA poll including No. 7 Julian Lenz, No. 15 Patrick Pradella, No. 27 Diego Galeano and No. 104 Tony Lupieri.
The Red Raiders (12-5) enter the match led by 95th-ranked Hugo Dojas and riding a seven-match win streak that includes a 4-2 win over No. 26 Louisville.
Baylor and Texas Tech are tied 26-26 in the all-time series, with the last meeting between the two teams resulting in a 6-1 Baylor win. However, BU has won 21 of the last 22 series meetings.

Following Saturday’s match, the Bears will return to action Tuesday as they travel to Fort Worth to face No 56 TCU.
