Zgaga named Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week

WACO, Texas - Senior Matija Zgaga was named Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his performance this past week the conference announced Monday.
No. 124 Zgaga defeated Texas A&M's Brett Joelson in a two set match 6-1, 6-2 to help lead the Bears to a 5-2 win over the No. 29 Aggies. In doubles action, No. 18 Zgaga and David Galic defeated Nallon and Joelson, 8-5, to improve their overall record to 7-1 on the season.
Zgaga boasts an 18-4 overall record, 2-0 in conference play. He has won four consecutive singles matches and remains undefeated on court four.
Zgaga has also moved up in Baylor's records ladder with his performance against Pepperdine and Texas A&M. In singles career wins, Zgaga is tied with teammate Michal Kokta at the No. 7 spot posting 93 wins. He also improved to tie for third in doubles career wins with 94 and jumped up to fifth in dual match singles career wins with 65 victories.
Josh Zavala from Texas was also selected as Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while Imke Reimers of Nebraska took home the women's honor.
Zgaga and the Bears return to action Tuesday, April 10 when they host a double-header against St. Edwards at 3 p.m. and Texas-Arlington at 7 p.m.
