The Baylor men's tennis team, ranked at the No. 4 spot for the fifth consecutive week, wraps up regular season play this weekend as they host Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Baylor takes on seventh-ranked Oklahoma State Friday, April 20 at 6 p.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center, before facing No. 28 University of Oklahoma Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. The Bears are 20-3 on the season, 4-0 in conference play.
Oklahoma State's record is 15-1, 4-0 in conference play heading into the weekend. The Cowboys' only loss came against then-No. 11 Illinois. In individual rankings, Oklahoma State's No. 26 Ivan Puchkarov and No. 30 Oliksandr Nedovyesov earned honors in singles play. The Bears have claimed 12 consecutive wins against the Cowboys and lead the series 12-7.
Oklahoma is currently 17-5 on the season, 2-3 in Big 12 action. Baylor has defeated Oklahoma in 11 consecutive matches, but Oklahoma owns the series 14-12. The Sooners hold two singles rankings including No. 62 Vaclav Kucera and No. 124 Andrei Daescu, while Federico Chavarria and Daescu claim the No. 60 doubles spot.
In between Sunday's doubles and singles action, Baylor's four seniors, Jamie Bishop, Michal Kokta, Michael Wollitz and Matija Zgaga, will be honored.
In individual standings, Baylor leads the competition with three Bears receiving nods in singles play. Lars Poerschke leads the Bears ranked No. 13, while No. 23 Michal Kokta and No. 102 Dominik Mueller also earned honors. In doubles play, Baylor's duo of Matija Zgaga and David Galic are ranked at the No. 18 spot with a 9-2 overall record, 3-0 in conference play.
The Bears are back in action when they head to Kansas City, Missouri April 26-29 for the Big 12 Championships.
