WACO, Texas - Baylor men's tennis player Julian Lenz was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's National Player to Watch, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The sophomore learned last week that he was the ITA Texas Regional winner and that made him one of 12 candidates for the national honor.
Lenz reached a career high ranking of No. 2 in the ITA National Singles Rankings by turning in a 35-7 singles record. He's currently ranked No. 3, having gone 24-4 in dual matches including a 15-3 mark at No. 1 singles. Lenz picked up wins over No. 1 Clay Thompson (UCLA) and No. 4 Mitchell Frank (Virginia) this spring.
The Giessen, Germany, product, earned his second straight All-Big 12 singles accolade earlier this month and will play in the NCAA Singles Championships, which start on Wednesday.
