A total of five Baylor men's tennis players made the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, along with one doubles duo, the ITA announced Wednesday.
As a team, Baylor finished the year ranked No. 12, after posting a 22-6 record and making the Round of 16 of the NCAA Championships for a 12th consecutive season. BU was the highest ranked Big 12 team and finished in the top-20 for a 12th-straight year.
Junior Patrick Pradella led the BU contingent ranked in the singles listings at No. 30, while freshman Julian Lenz was No. 59, sophomore Marko Krickovic finished No. 72, sophomore Mate Zsiga was 87th and Tony Lupieri was No. 114. Zsiga partnered with Diego Galeano to be listed at No. 54 in the doubles rankings.
It is the fourth time since 1998 that the Bears have had five or more players listed in the final rankings.
Pradella finished his first season at BU with a 20-6 record. He was selected for the NCAA Singles Championships, but had to withdraw because of a back injury. He was 8-4 against ranked foes and 12-4 in the No. 1 singles spot. Pradella also earned the Big 12's Newcomer of the Year award.
Lenz completed his inaugural year at BU with a 27-10 record overall and a 16-5 mark in dual-match play. He tallied a 9-8 record against ranked opponents. During his freshman season, Lenz was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and the ITA Texas Region Rookie of the Year. He also competed in the NCAA Singles Championships.
Krickovic tallied a 22-11 overall record and a 12-6 mark in dual-match play. He played in positions two through six in the lineup.
Zsiga was 25-10 overall and 16-6 in dual-match play. He was one of five Bears with a 4-1 Big 12 record.
Lupieri posted a 20-6 record in his first season at BU. He was 18-4 in dual-match play, including a 9-2 mark in the No. 4 spot.
On the season, Zsiga and Galeano were 9-5 with a 9-3 dual-match record with all of those matches coming at the No. 1 spot.
