Baylor men's tennis has two players ranked in singles, a doubles team listed and one newcomer ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings.
The Bears' Roberto Maytin and Kike Grangeiro sit among the top 50 in singles while Maytin and freshman Marko Krickovic are listed in doubles and freshman Mate Zsiga is one of 11 newcomer/freshmen among the rankings.
Maytin, a junior from Valencia, Venezuela, is the Bear's highest ranked player at No. 43. He is coming off a season where he posted a 26-12 singles mark and finished ranked No. 93. Grangeiro, a senior, checks in at No. 48. The native of Brasilia, Brazil, ended the 2010-11 season on a six-match win streak and posted a 27-9 season mark, while ranking No. 101.
Zsiga, a freshman from Szeged, Hungary, earned a spot at No. 3 in the freshman/newcomer rankings.
In doubles, Maytin and newcomer Krickovic (Ismaning, Germany) are listed at No. 23. Maytin, a doubles All-American last season, is coming off a 36-6 record with John Peers.
Baylor will begin its fall season by hosting the Baylor-HEB Invitational at the Hurd Tennis Center, Sept. 23-25.
