WACO, Texas- Baylor men's tennis sends six student-athletes to compete in the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships. Play will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa with pre-qualifying play October 3-5 followed by qualifying play October 6-8, and concludes with main draw action October 9-12.
Representing the Bears in competition will be Denes Lukacs, Dominik Mueller, Jordan Rux, Attila Bucko, Julian Bley, and Marc Bruche. Bruche will begin play in the pre-qualifying draw. Rux, Bucko, and Bley will start in the qualifying draw while Lukacs and Mueller will participate in the main draw. Bucko and Rux will play doubles for Baylor in the qualifying draw.
In order to be eligible for tournament participation players had to be approved by a selection committee that examined preseason rankings, overall performance from the previous year, and position and ranking of the team. Baylor finished out last year ranked No. 8 and currently has four singles players ranked in the ITA preseason poll with Lukacs at No. 2, Muller at No. 44, Rux at No. 86, and Bucko at No. 100.
The pre-qualifying draw will consist of 256 singles players with 16 advancing. The qualifying draw consists of 128 singles players and 64 doubles teams with 16 singles and eight doubles advancing. There will be an optional consolation for first round losers in the qualifying draw. Main draw play will include 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams with mandatory consolation for first round losers.
