WACO, Texas - Three Baylor men's tennis players will compete in the third event of the Bear's fall season, the Futures of Mansfield Men's $15k, beginning on Saturday at the Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, Texas.
"We are halfway through the fall," head coach Matt Knoll said. "We are starting to put some results together and this is another chance to play some good competition. Mansfield has traditionally been, if not the strongest, one of the strongest futures tournaments in the country every year. They have a great spot in the calendar when there aren't a lot of events going on in the country so they attract some players that are more challenging level players. It will be super strong for us and I know that the guys are really excited."
No. 16 Patrick Pradella (7-2), No. 38 Julian Lenz (8-1), and No. 60 Mate Zsiga (4-3), will represent the Bears with all three stating in the qualification round of the Pro Circuit event.
All three players competed in last week's ITA All-American Championships. Zsiga was bumped in the third round of the qualifying singles draw. Lenz and Pradella were both seeded and started in the main draw of the event. Pradella's run was ended in the quarterfinal round of the main draw after dropping a three set match 7-5, 3-6, 3-6 to No. 36 Guillermo Alcorta. Lenz made it as far as the semifinal round before losing to No. 15 Mitchell Frank of Virginia, the eventual event winner
