The event, hosted by The Ohio State University for the second straight year, is the second of three national tournaments for singles and doubles during the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season. Poerschke is an at-large selection for the 32-player singles field. Overall, more than 10,000 players from nearly 600 schools participate annually in the ITA Regional and National Intercollegiate Championships.

Among the participants in the 2006 championships include defending men's singles champion Benjamin Kohlloeffel of UCLA, who also won last May's NCAA crown. Also competing will be Polo Ralph Lauren All-American champion and finalists Arnau Brugues of Tulsa and John Isner of Georgia, respectively.
