Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling (2-3) fell in their first home meet of the season to the University of Oregon Ducks (9-0) 284.70-276.04, Saturday evening at the in Waco, Texas at the Ferrell Center.
To start the meet, the Ducks took the Compulsory Event with a 38.35, but the Bears weren't far behind with a 37.30. In the Acro Event, Baylor came back and took the event, closing the gap to 65.50-64.55. In the final event before the half, Pyramid, Oregon extended their lead 95.20-93.30.
After the half, the Bears continued to trail the Ducks after the Toss Event 124.30-121.75. Baylor then bounced back strong in the Tumbling Event almost beating Oregon with a score of 58.23-58.30, with an overall total of 182.60-179.98.
In the final event of the night, the Team Routine, Baylor couldn't close the gap, falling to Oregon 102.10-96.06, with an overall total score of 284.70-276.04.
The Bears won the Acro Event tonight, 27.25-27.15.
Within the Acro Event, the team of Deonka Ceaser, Tori Jackson, Courtney Pate, Ali Martelo and Lynn Herbst took Heat 1 (5 Element) with a score 9.30.
The team of Danielle Hardman, Devyn White, Kelci Ortiz, Ally Cheatham and Bresha Pierce won Heat 2 (6 Element) of the Acro Event with a score of 9.15.
With a score of 9.50, the team of Courtney Pate, Ayana Taylor, Hannah Henke and Ally Cheatham won the Quad Pass of the Tumbling Event.
STAT OF THE DAY
In the Ariel Pass of the Tumbling Event, sophomore Courtney Pate posted a 9.93.
"I thought that the meet went great tonight. We really fought to the bitter end," said head coach LaPrise Harris-Williams. "I think that the athletes were very excited to be home. The crowd was just amazing. I think that it is really exciting for the girls to get to perform in front of that atmosphere. They did a great job, and I am proud of them."
The Bears will wrap up the regular season at home against Azusa Pacific on Saturday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. (CT) at the Ferrell Center. Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling will honor the seven graduating seniors for Senior Night.
