Azusa, Calif. – Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling lost to Azusa Pacific after dropping the first four events in its final regular season meet Thursday night in Azusa, Calif. The Bears were unable to overcome an early deficit, losing the meet 276.56-271.80.
APU started the meet strong in Compulsories by posting a 37.05 to Baylor’s 36.00. The Cougars stretched the lead after scoring 28.25 in the Acro event, a full point better than the Bears. APU continued the winning streak by taking the Pyramid event as well, beating Baylor 29.50-29.05. Azusa Pacific held the lead at halftime with 94.80 to Baylor’s 92.30.
The Bears were unable to make a comeback after halftime, dropping the Toss event 28.95-28.35. Baylor rallied, however, and outscored APU 55.60-55.50 in the Tumbling event.
The Cougars sealed its win by taking the Team Routine with 97.31 points over Baylor’s 95.55. APU finished with a 276.56-271.80 win over Baylor.
The Bears will compete next in Hamden, Conn., at the NCATA National Championships April 25-27.
