WACO, Texas - Baylor Acrobatics and Tumbling begins its second season competing in the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association when the Bears travel to Azusa, Calif. to take on Azusa Pacific at 9 p.m. CST Saturday.

"I'm very, very excited for the meet this weekend," first-year head coach LaPrise Harris-Williams said. "The girls are very prepared and will be surprised at how well they do. The team has come together and has overcome a lot from last year."

Harris-Williams took over as head coach in December, and Baylor added assistant coach Britta LeBlanc to the staff in January. Assistant coach Lexie Badali is back for her second season with the A&T team. With the recent addition of two coaches, the team hasn't had as much time to prepare as last season.

"Initially it was difficult for the girls because they went so long without working out, but we implemented organized workouts and new stretching techniques," Harris-Williams said. "The girls are just excited to be working out again. We've gotten along very well as a team."

A&T meets consist of six events: Compulsories, Stunt, Pyramids, Basket Tosses, Tumbling and Team Routine. Teams compete in a predetermined rotation order throughout each event. Events are immediately scored by officials and overall standings are displayed on a scoreboard.

The Bears' first three meets of the season are on the road before they return home March 24 to host Maryland at the Ferrell Center. Baylor will also be hosting the NCATA National Championships in Waco on April 26-28. All NCATA events are sanctioned through USA Gymnastics.
