WACO, Texas -
Baylor Acrobatics and Tumbling (0-1) will compete in its second meet of the season and second-consecutive away meet against the Quinnipiac Bobcats (1-0) Sunday Feb. 23, at 10:30 a.m. (CT) at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
"We have just refined the skills that we were already doing. We are ready to go," head coach LaPrise Harris-Williams said. "It was short turnaround so there wasn't a lot of time to make too many changes or do anything too differently. Right now we hope to be set for the rest of the season with the skill set that we have. What we have done is perfected some of the things that we have been doing and go compete."
The Bears lost their season opener on Feb. 13 against the reigning national champion Oregon Ducks, 280.2-274.38. Baylor is looking for their first win of the 2014 season after getting the first meet out of the way, giving the youth of the team competition experience.
"This is such a great team. I think they all pulled together (at Oregon)," Harris-Williams said. "The seniors and juniors, our veterans, just set the pace for the newcomers and the first year starters. I think that they saw that the seniors were relaxed, they understood the format prior to (competing at Oregon) and they showed their skill set just like they were in practice. We were really happy with the results."
The Bobcats and runners-up in the 2013 NCATA national championship began their season with a Feb. 1, win over Gannon University, 279.575-260.895.
