WACO, Texas - Acrobatics & Tumbling head coach LaPrise Harris-Williams announces the hiring of two assistant coaches, Kassi Duncan and Emily Maike.
"I am very excited to welcome Kassi and Emily to our staff. Both young ladies bring experience as competitors at the national level and both will be excellent mentors and coaches for our student-athletes," said Harris-Williams.
Duncan, an Elk Grove, Calif., native, comes to the Baylor campus after serving as Acrobatics head coach at Diamond Elite Gymnastics in Chino, Calif., and an acrobatics developmental team coach at Empire Acro Gymnastics in Riverside, Calif. At Diamond Elite, she developed the program's first competitive Acrobatic Gymnastics program and choreographed all competitive routines. Duncan competed for 10 years and won numerous state, regional, national and international titles. In addition to earning her bachelor's degree in political science from Azusa Pacific University, Duncan was a two-time All-American in both 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving. She earned team MVP honors in 2012 and '13.
Maike, a 2012 graduate of the University of Oregon (human physiology), joins the program after a stint in the business world in addition to an internship in the Oregon Athletic Department and working with Oregon's A&T summer camp. Maike, a native of Chesaning Mich., also attended Michigan State and was a member of Oregon's two-time national championship squad.
