Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
"Free throws, layups, 7-for-32 (shooting) from four post players, I can't explain it. I think it is just some kids that are not playing very well. It is like we are just throwing shots up hoping to get fouled instead of being poised and finishing shots. That was not a very good basketball game. I thought both teams were struggling to find something to get over the hump and they just found three more points than we did."
On not being able to extend the lead:
"What I was surprised at was that we could never extend the lead. We would run (the lead) up to six or seven then we would turn it over or let a girl get a (3-point basket). That is my disappointment is that we can't extend leads when we have them."
Senior Guard Jhasmin Player
On the focus of the team:
"We have to get better. We said that at the beginning of the season that it is not how you start, it is how you finish. That is what it is about. We knew how tough the Big 12 was before we got here and we just have to get better."
Junior Post Danielle Wilson
On shooting free throws:
"I have been working on it everyday in practice. Everybody has just been telling me to stay with it and its going to get better. I know that I have to shoot better then I did tonight."
Texas Head Coach Gail Goestenkors
"I am really proud of my team. We have had some rough games lately and I just talked to the team about the character, and when you hit adversity, character reveals itself. I think we saw some great character from our team today. It was a war, which I think every game in the Big 12 is, and I was just proud of the way we battled from the tip. We will take it, hopefully gain some confidence from it and move on and try to build upon it."
On winning in Waco:
"It's big for so many reasons for us. The road has not been kind to us in general, so for us to get a win on the road is big. Then when you consider it was here at Baylor where they have played so well and have so much pride, and it was a point in our season where we needed a big win, this really was a great win for us."
Texas Freshman Ashleigh Fontenette:
On stressing rebounds in this game:
"Rebounding has been a big factor for us in the games we have lost in the past. Coach has just been saying that rebounding takes heart. We just tried to go out there and rebound well.
Texas Sophomore Guard Kathleen Nash:
On hitting free-throws at the end of the game:
"I was thinking don't miss. I actually didn't look at the scoreboard because I didn't really want to. I actually thought we were up by three, and I think that helped because I didn't feel quite as much pressure. I think you just have to focus on the basket."
