Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey

Opening Statement:
"You'll win a lot of ball games when you just turn the ball over twice, and particularly when we do a lot of things with Odyssey [Sims] and our guards taking care of the ball so much. We just got shots. We didn't shoot the ball particularly well in the first half. I'll have to go back and check out the film and see if it was Texas' defense or if we just missed shots. We knew though that we were still in the game and that we had a chance to win it shooting 28% in the first half and only down by three after the made shot at the buzzer."

On 1st 5 minutes of 2nd half:
"I think the first five minutes of the second half of every game can be game changing. Whether you're ahead or behind, I think the first five minutes of the second half are crucial. My kids will tell you that, because they get tired of hearing me talk about it in the locker room. I think we came out and played hard and thought we had a little spurt there where we took it right at them."

Baylor Forward Nina Davis

On physical play:
"It was very physical down there having to guard Nneka [Enemkpali]. She's a great player, probably one of the best players that I've had to guard this year. She's very aggressive, and I knew coming into the game that she was going to be aggressive. I just knew I had to match her."

On 6th double-double:
I go out there every night and just try to hustle and give it everything I have. I just keep coming up with 17 rebounds. It feels great."

Baylor Guard Odyssey Sims

On her offensive game:
"When I'm on offense, I just try to open things up for the posts and the other guards. I knew I had two shooters in the corners so I just kept attacking and got what I could out of it."

On her 40 point game:
"I think it meant a lot to my fans. They come and support us and watch us play all of the time. They were able to witness a 40 point game with [Brittney Griner], but I think it was still pretty special. We all played good and we got a victory."

Texas Head Coach Karen Aston

Opening Statement:
"I thought our team competed really, really hard. Obviously, we give a lot of credit to Baylor and their ability to do what they do best, which is first of all Odyssey Sims and second, rebound. Obviously, we need to go back and look at a different game plan. I thought we would be a little more disciplined defensively than we were. We couldn't find any sort of rhythm offensively."

On the frustrating parts of the game:
"I need to go back and look at the film to see, but I just feel like we didn't make adjustments to the way the game was being officiated. That was the biggest difference in the second half. Both of us fouled a lot in the first half, and I thought Baylor did a better job of making adjustments in the second half and not putting us on the line."

On Baylor's lack of turnovers:
"It's very difficult because it's a possession game. From a possession standpoint we're getting better. That's been a big topic of conversation about our team is how do we stop turning the ball over so much and against a really good defensive team. I thought we did a better job. We lost the possession game very clearly."

"I was very proud of our effort but I don't think we played very intelligently today. I think our guards will play and can play and have been playing a lot better than they played today--in particular shot taking and decision making. However, I don't think any of us up here are looking for moral victories--I think we have a good basketball team that has an opportunity to do some things this year, and we'll go back and figure out how we can try to be better because I don't think any of us are looking for moral victories right now.

Texas Guard Celina Rodrigo

On Baylor's Odyssey Sims:
"Odyssey [Sims] is a great player. It's definitely difficult because if you go over the screen she'll shoot a three, but if you go under the screen, help has to be there. I think we struggled there. Our defense struggled, our help wasn't there and we didn't make the right rotations.

Texas Forward Nneka Enemkpali

On what could've gone differently:
"If we go into the half confident, and if we had responded the way we should have responded the second half and found a way to contain Odyssey off the dribble, and secure the offensive rebounds--that would've helped. I think offensive rebounds really hurt us late in the game."
