#1/1 BAYLOR 84, OKLAHOMA STATE 57
GALLAGHER-IBA ARENA • STILLWATER, OKLA.
FEB. 6, 2011 • ATTENDANCE: 2,471

  BAYLOR QUOTES
  Head Coach Kim Mulkey

On playing in Stillwater:
We've had some fantastic finishes here. We have had some heartbreaking finishes. We have had off the floor issues from planes not being able to take us home to one year I think I was sick. We're not home yet, but the plane is in Stillwater, so when we leave here we are headed to the plane.

  Sophomore Forward Destiny Williams

On her improved scoring:
“I give all credit to the team and BG (Brittney Griner). Because of her I'm getting as many wide open shots and the guards are giving me the ball at the right times. I'm knocking the shots down but it's all because of the team. Two good back-to-back games is because of my teammates passing me the ball and teams collapsing on BG and leaving me wide open at the top.”

“I'm still learning each and every day in practice and games. I still have a lot to learn but I have my teammates to help me through each game and the coaching staff so each games is going to get better because we work hard and we're going to take it game by game.”

  OKLAHOMA STATE QUOTES
  Head Coach Kurt Budke

Opening Statement:
"Well that's obviously a great team. I picked them from day one to win the national championship and they have done nothing to change my mind. I have been fortunate enough in my career to compete against the great Connecticut teams and the great Tennessee teams and this team is right there with them. They have an unbelievably dominant force in themiddle and their role players are just getting better and better. When theymake shots like that from the perimeter, I'm not sure what the answer is tobeat these people. I am proud of our kids for fighting the whole time through, but if they stay healthy I think Baylor is on their way."

On both teams looking stronger from their first meeting:
"Their confidence from their shooters, that is something you didn't really worry about last year, and now they can surround Griner with all kinds of choices out there. They are better. They have gotten better since we played them. I am glad Coach Mulkey said that we were getting better because I think we have. Coach Barmore, who is a long time friend of mine, said Vicky McIntyre has improved as much on tape as anyone in this conference, so that is also good to hear coming from a legend like that."

On Vicky McIntyre:
"She has just gotten better since the last time we played Baylor. She is very deserving of more minutes. She has played really well. We didn't start her because we didn't want her to get a couple of early fouls because she is excited to play against Brittney Griner, because she was excited to get the opportunity. There are not a lot of people who have had success attacking Griner. Vicky for a still learning freshman was really excited about getting that opportunity to score on her. Brittney blocked every once in a while but she would kind of learn from it and change her moves a little bit the next time around. She just came up to me after the game and said 'coach I'm sorry I let you down' and that is just who she is. She didn't let me down. I thought she played great, but that is just who she is. She really cares and that is a great person to grow a foundation around."
