March 31, 2003 * With the win, The Lady Bears will host Auburn in the WNIT Championship game Friday at 8 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
* Baylor is 8-2 in WNIT games, all played at the Ferrell Center.
* The 33-31 CSU edge at halftime was the closest midpoint score in Baylor's four WNIT games. The next closest was a 23-20 Lady Bear advantage at the break against Northern Iowa.
* Junior guard Jessica Stratton hit three treys, tying her postseason-best set against Arkansas in 2001. Her two performances tie for the second best individual total in Baylor postseason history.
* The technical foul charged to the Colorado State bench at the 18:24 mark of the second half was only the second technical of the season by a Baylor oponent. Grambling was charged with a team technical at the Ferrell Center on Dec. 14. The Lady Bears have been charded with three technicals this season.
* Tonight's attendance of 5,284 was the third largest Lady Bear crowd of the season at the Ferrell Center.
* Freshman forward Sophia Young recorded her 15th double-double with 19 points and 14 boards. She has scored in double-figures in 27 of her 34 career games. Her totals included shooting an incredible 7-of-11 from the floor and grabbing 11 of Baylor's 32 defensive boards.
* Freshman guard Ebony Jackson had a career-high 19 points in the ccontest. Her previous best was 17 against Texas-Pan American.
* The Lady Bears recorded eight blocks in the contest, the second-most in postseason history. They set the record earlier this season with 10 rejections against Fresno State in the second round of the WNIT.
* The Lady Bears made 29 free throws in the contest, which is a Lady Bear post-season record.
* After committing 13 turnovers in the first half, the Lady Bears only turned the ball over four times in the second period.
* The all-time series between the two teams is now even at two each. This is the first time the two teams have since the 1992-93 season. |
