#7/4 Baylor 81 - Incarnate Word 52 - Nov. 7, 2009
Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas) - Att.: 6,262

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey

On the game:
"A lot of what we are doing offensively is to look inside first. If you look at how many shot attempts we had as a team, I would imagine without counting right now, the majority of them were post players. Make them guard you in the paint first. I think we will (play inside-out) a little bit this year."

On Brittney Griner and how she makes the team better:
"When you are 6-9, you are a presence in the paint. As I tell the kids, use her. Everything that we can do make it easy for you by using her as a passer or whatever. Brittney will tell you that she can't do it without her teammates and she will quickly tell you that she has a lot to learn. It sure is fun, as they all will tell you, to play with a 6-9 post player."

On preparing this week for the season opener at Tennessee:
"I played a lot of players (in the exhibitions) and some of those kids will not see the floor against Tennessee. That is just the way it is. You can't play 12 players in a game of that magnitude--there are not enough minutes. I've got to now narrow this thing down and figure out what I have to do to compete with Tennessee. We will do that this next week. Exhibitions are just what they are--it allows you the freedom and the luxury to move kids in and out, looking at different things and combinations. We erase every bit of that now and it is time to go to work this week and put some things in that bring out the best in some of the kids."

Forward Morghan Medlock

On the season opener at Tennessee:
"To be honest right now it is kind of mixed emotions. We are all really excited but we are not stupid. We still have a lot to work on and thank God that we have this full week to prepare and get some more wrinkles out and take our time to do things right. We are definitely excited. We are anxious and ready for this thing to get under way."

Forward Brittney Griner

On getting her first dunk at the college level:
"It excited me a lot but it really motivated the team and gave the crowd a spark. We feed off of the crowd, so it got us going.

Incarnate Word Head Coach Angela Lawson

On what Baylor did well:
"What did they not do well? Obviously we knew (Brittney) Griner could do what she did tonight. I thought she was really impressive for them. As a team, Baylor ran some different things defensively than what we thought they were going to do. I just think Baylor, they are young right now and they are going to grow. I still think that they have a great shot, I know they are ranked fourth in the nation right now, but a lot of people are saying, `they got a lot of freshman and this and this.' Kim and coach Barmore are great coaches so I don't think that is going to be an issue. I think they have a great chance to make it to the Final Four in San Antonio this year."

On defending Brittney Griner:
"We just talked about that we couldn't stay in a hard denial because they were going to lob over us and she was going to turn around and dunk the ball. So we had a game plan of half denying the post and then slide in between her and the basket on the pass. The one time we didn't do that she dunked on us, so lesson learned, maybe they will listen to the coaches next time."
