Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey:
On the game:
"I thought we played in spurts. Sometimes that happens when you sub a lot, but this team has a lot of subbing to do."
On Danielle Wilson:
"Danielle is the biggest player on the floor. She did a good job of scoring and getting to the free throw line. We got to continue to make her and Jessika Bradley to the free throw line."
On defensive intensity:
"We played good defense at the beginning of the game. We allowed them to penetrate and kick out for the three, and we're going to have to figure that out, but the defensive intensity at the beginning of the first and second halves was good."
On Angela Tisdale:
"Angela was doing exactly what she should do in leading her ball club. When you leave her open, she is going to make some shots."
Baylor Guard Angela Tisdale:
On Defensive Intensity:
"We just wanted to keep them out of the game because the last eight minutes of the first half they were playing good and we just wanted to hold them off."
"At the end, they were running the shot clock down. The point guard was penetrating and dishing off and they were getting good shots."
On halftime locker room talk:
"It was close. We just knew we had to pick up the defense...You feed off your defense then your offense will come easily and I think that is what happened."
"I think we did pretty good but we know that we have to kick it up a notch in practice because these next games are not going to be easy."
Baylor Post Danielle Wilson:
On points made:
"Coach was working with me about just finishing the basket whether you get fouled or not so that was just the great passing by the guards."
On her free throw game:
"I have been working on them in practice. I know that I have to get better at that. It just takes practice...Once you start missing a couple you have just focus back and know that I can hit it."
UT Pan Am Head Coach DeAnn Craft:
On the game:
"I loved our shot selection tonight. We wanted a low possession game. We were able to do that for a while. Obviously, their elite talent and physicality just wore us down. We couldn't contain the tempo. It got way out of hand. We have good athletes but just not to that capacity, so we tried to slow it down a little bit and then when she went in with her subs, then we tried to run a little bit. But we just weren't able to compete."
At the start of game:
"It is your first game and you have got all those butterflies, let alone you are playing the 13th team in the country. That just adds to it. We knew there is nothing we could throw at them. They are so well prepared and so well coached. It comes down to the fact that you have to be able to make shots in the first eight minutes or it brings your confidence down. I was extremely encouraged because we didn't do that and were still able to get a little resolve about ourselves. Actually, we were a little competitive for a stretch in the first half and that is a good sign for us, but we were not able to maintain that."
"Their team is too talented and we knew we could not match them man to man. And that is when you have to come in and try to do the best you can in your zone. We missed assignments all night and they got virtually every shot they wanted. I thought we did a great job containing the outside, but that is not what zones are supposed to do."
