#2/3 Baylor 100 – Texas Southern 43 – Nov. 23, 2010
Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas) – Att.: 6,291

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On Brittney Griner breaking the Baylor career shot block record:
“I cannot even comprehend. We have not even made it through six games of her sophomore year. What do you say? I always say that records are made to be broken, but I am not sure if Brittney’s block shot record at Baylor will ever be broken. I will have to look when her career is over if it will ever be broken on a national scale. That is pretty amazing.”

On Brittney’s skill level:
“She rarely gets fouls called when she blocks shots. She just has a knack for timing it just right and sometimes we are on her because we think she should block more. I just think it is something when you are 6-8 and you have such a long wingspan that it is just something that she does naturally. I can assure you that it is not anything that we have taught her, it is not anything that we even work on; she just knows how to block shots. I think a good thing is that we are now reacting to her blocked shots. Last year, we did not get ready for them. Now when she blocks shots it is a quick possession for us.”

On Brittney Griner and Melissa Jones setting the offensive tone:
“I thought Brittney and MJ set the tone for our basketball team. They played with groups of three out there, the other three people rotating in and out. It got kind of ugly because I was substituting a lot of people and yet I kept those two in the flow, and I thought they led their basketball team like captains should.”

Guard Melissa Jones
On Britney Griner’s talent:
“Britney is so talented. You guys only see a little bit from the games, but just in practice she is just as dominate with blocks. It is something that you do not see every day and we are just glad she is on our team.”

Post Brittney Griner
On breaking the Baylor career shot block record:
“This one was real special to me because that is my favorite thing, blocking shots. That one was kind of special. I am going to keep this ball in my house this time.”
