#8/8 Baylor 82 – Idaho 37 – Nov. 27, 2009
Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas) – Att.: 6,451

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey

On the impact of Brittney Griner outside of the box-score…
“The thing about Brittney Griner is that you will never see her get frustrated out there. She wants to please people and she wants to catch every pass that you throw to her. It is an adjustment for the officials on not being called. It is an adjustment for players on the opposing team. I don’t know that it is a big adjustment for us because we have come to expect it every game.”

On the play of the reserves…
“I thought the second half was better. In the first half we tried to play some zone that we are working on and I thought we allowed (Idaho) to cut into our lead in the first half. We knew they were a three-point shooting team and we allowed them to cut into the lead. I thought in the second half that they did very good. They came in and extended the lead, played better defense and part of that is probably because we had them in a man instead of the zone. I was very pleased.”

Junior Guard Melissa Jones

On spending more time in the gym to improve her three-point shot…
“I just think that with this team that we have it is great that I will get a phone call from different players just asking to go (to the gym) and just shoot with them. I don’t think it is just me but I think it is other players on the team that wanted to go shoot and allow the team as a whole to get better.”

Idaho Head Coach Jon Newlee

On Brittney Griner and Melissa Jones…
“I thought we did a great job on (Brittney Griner)—that was part of the plan. The part that wasn’t part of the plan was letting (Melissa) Jones sit out there by herself. Melissa is a great player. I saw her play a bunch of times in the summer and I know what kind of shooter she can be, especially when she gets hot. She got hot tonight and she got on a roll. You have to pick your poison one way or another and we weren’t going to let them just go in and throw it to Griner because we certainly can’t stop that with one person.”
