9/9 BAYLOR (7-1) 133, 5/6 KENTUCKY (9-0) 130
AT&T Stadium (Arlington, Texas)
Fri., Dec. 6, 2013

Head Coach Kim Mulkey

Opening statement...
"I don't know where to begin. I am not ever into moral victories. We have to get better. We have to stop people. We have to learn to make plays. But I can tell you I learned a lot about my basketball team tonight. If that's the fifth ranked team in the country, we're alright because we can score with them, but we have to get better defensively. I have never been a part of a team that has had seven kids foul out and had to play a kid that's injured just to have five on the floor. Four overtimes -- I don't think I have ever been a part of four overtimes. I thought that for a bunch of young ones they competed and played their rear ends off, and it was good to see because now they know how good they can be."

On playing without Odyssey Sims in final three overtimes...
"Well, that just shows you how good we can be, because let me tell you, Odyssey Sims is the best player in the country. I don't care what anybody says, she showed that tonight. And yet, she fouls out and we have to go two more periods without her and our kids never missed a beat -- they never panicked. They just played and every kid that went into that ball game tonight wanted to win and they did something good. They put themselves there against the fifth ranked team in the country and that's all you can ask them to do."

Senior G Odyssey Sims

On fouling out...
"I have a lot of faith in my team. I thought they played great tonight. We did all we could and fought until the end."

On taking the game over...
"I was just trying to win the game."

On watching her teammates play in final three overtimes...
"They play hard. With the youth, we are going to be good, like Coach [Mulkey] said. We'll come back and we'll fix things but we will get better each game."

Senior G Makenzie Robertson

On playing without Odyssey Sims in final three overtimes...
"We knew from the start it was going to be a tough game. We just wanted to put ourselves in a position to win it, which we did. Once Odyssey [Sims] was gone, the rest of us knew we had to step up. Once half our team was gone -- the ones who were left -- we just knew we had to do what we could and we tried."

On missing the potential game-winning lay-up at end of first overtime...
"That one kind of hurt because I should have made it. I'm sure I'll beat myself up over it but I'll work on it and get it."

Head Coach Matthew Mitchell

Opening statement...
"Well first, I'd like to say it was an incredible environment to be in. It was an honor to be in this venue and play against a program like Baylor, and obviously Baylor has a great team and played their tails off tonight. So tremendous respect for the Baylor team and their players played their hearts out. Their coaches coached their hearts out. So a lot of respect for Baylor and then I have tremendous respect for our players. For just hanging in there and gunning it out. Back was against the wall several times. Had it won maybe a couple of times had it lost a couple of times and we were just able to fight through and find a way. So, a great game for us to win. I'm just really, really proud of our players and very happy for them."

On Jennifer O'Neill scoring 43 points...
"Well, it's a high-level game. I thought Baylor really raised their level tonight and played with tremendous tenacity and you just had to make plays tonight, and Jennifer was really, really hot. I don't pay attention sometimes. I knew she was doing well but I didn't know she had 43. I was just trying to get her the ball. It's an amazing performance and we needed all of them, we needed every point she scored and she did some amazing things on defense. But the team really, really gutted it out."

Junior G Jennifer O'Neill

On scoring 43 points...
"I was just looking to come in and be aggressive. I felt like I needed to have Janee [Thompson's] back. I felt like she kind of started slow and during the game I told her I needed her and she tried to step up. But I really just tried to be a leader today and go out there and do my job."

On feeling something different before the game...
"The funny thing is I had a dream that I was going to take the buzzer-beater and it just winded up happening like that."

Junior G Bria Goss

On her emotions after the game...
"It was really good that we got this win. I lost my voice because of it. But I felt like the team really put it out there and put their neck on the line tonight and like Coach [Mitchell] said we had a lot of people stepping up. I know I commended Jen [O'Neill] in the locker room for taking strides and being a leader. Not just in scoring but her being a vocal leader. Just all the little things that Jen did tonight -- playing through mistakes. Sometimes she'll drop her head but tonight she really stepped up. So once the horn went off and we were going to the locker room it was a big relief. Like, this is the team. This is the year."
