THE RUNDOWN
The top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears open their 16th Big 12 Conference season with a school-record 31-game home win streak on the line and hoping to begin at 14-0 for the first time in program history when they host Missouri on Wednesday, Jan. 4.

The contest matches the league's top two scorers and shot blockers in Baylor's Brittney Griner and Missouri's Christine Flores. Griner leads the league in both categories with 22.2 points and 5.2 blocks per game while Flores follows with 21.9 points and 4.2 blocks an outing.

Baylor, 13-0, is led on the season by a trio of double-digit scorers. Griner, a junior post, leads the team with 22.2 points per game while sophomore guard Odyssey Sims manages 17.5 a contest and junior forward/post Brooklyn Pope contributes 10.6 a game. Junior forward/post Destiny Williams adds 9.5 an outing and Kimetria Hayden averages 9.0 a contest. Griner, Williams and Pope are the team's top rebounders at 10.6, 7.1 and 6.7 boards per game, respectively. Sims is also averaging 6.3 assists and 4.1 steals per contest.

The Missouri Tigers (10-1) hit the road for the first time since Nov. 16, after playing eight straight home games, when they travel to Waco. Missouri is off to its best start since the 2006-07 season when it opened at 12-1.

Two San Antonio, Texas, natives, Flores and BreAnna Brock, lead the team in both scoring and rebounding. Flores, a 6-3 senior forward, leads the team in scoring with 21.9 points and is second in rebounding at 8.4 a contest, while Brock, a 6-2 senior forward, ranks first in rebounding with 8.9 a game and second in scoring at 16.1 a contest.

The Tigers are coached by second-year head coach Robin Pingeton, a 1990 St. Ambrose graduate. Pingeton is 23-19 (.548) in her two seasons along the Missouri sideline and 359-176 (.671) in 17 seasons as a head coach.
