The top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears will be playing their third game in a seven-day span when they host the 23rd-ranked Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. The Wildcats will be Baylor's second straight ranked opponent, and sixth of the season, as the Lady Bears defeated 17th-ranked Texas Tech, 72-64, in Lubbock on Wednesday.

Baylor, 18-0 overall and 5-0 in league play, is led on the season by three players who average 10 or more points a game. Junior post Brittney Griner, National Player of the Year candidate and reigning Big 12 Player of the Week, leads the team with 22.7 points per game while sophomore guard Odyssey Sims, an All-America candidate, manages 16.5 a contest and junior forward/post Destiny Williams adds 10.2 a contest. Griner, Williams and junior forward/post Brooklyn Popeare the team's top rebounders at 10.2, 8.7 and 5.7 boards per game, respectively. Sims is also averaging 5.6 assists and 3.6 steals per contest while Griner manages 5.4 blocks per game.

The 23rd-ranked Kansas State Wildcats bring their 13-4 season record and 4-1 Big 12 mark to the floor when they play in Waco on Saturday night. The Wildcats suffered their first Big 12 loss on Tuesday, losing at home to Oklahoma, 65-57.

Junior Brittany Chambers, a 5-8 guard, leads the team in both scoring and rebounding at 15.9 points and 6.2 rebounds a game. Senior forward Jalana Childs completes the Wildcats' double-digit scoring with 15.1 a contest. Senior Branshea Brown, a 6-2 forward, is the team's second-leading rebounder with 5.9 an outing while Childs follows closely with 5.7 a game.

The Wildcats are coached by 16th-year head coach Deb Patterson, a 1979 Rockford College graduate. Patterson is 313-179 (.636) in her 16 seasons as a head coach.

Brittney Griner has registered a Big 12 record 491 career blocked shots, and ranks No. 3 on the NCAA Division I Career Top 10 list.
Brittney Griner ranks No. 5 on BU's career scoring chart with 1,905 points, and needs 72 points to rank No. 12 on the Big 12's career list.
Brittney Griner was named Big 12 Player of the Week for the third time this season, she averaged 30.0 points, 12 rebounds and 5.5 blocks in a pair of wins last week. Griner produced two double-doubles, leading all scorers in wins vs. Oklahoma State and Texas.
• Baylor is the only school to have its women's basketball (No. 1), men's basketball (No. 3) and football (No. 13) teams ranked among the AP Top 25.
• The Lady Bears are 56-4 over their last 60 games.
• BU has registered its first 18-0 start in school history. The Lady Bears began the 2000-01 season 13-0.

The 2011-12 Lady Bears have posted wins over then-No. 22 UCLA (83-50), No. 2 Notre Dame (94-81), at No. 6 Tennessee (76-67), then-No. 2 UConn (66-61) and at No. 17 Texas Tech (72-64).

Baylor hasn't allowed an opponent to shoot 50 percent from the field in 192 straight games, dating back to March 25, 2006, an 82-63 Sweet 16 loss to eventual national champion Maryland.

In 2010-11, BU held 14 of its 37 opponents to below a .300 field goal percentage.

This season, BU has held its opponents, including four ranked foes, to a .306 field goal percentage.

In 2011-12, BU has held eight of its 18 opponents to below a .300 field goal percentage, and only two teams, UConn (.421) and Texas Tech (.429), have shot above 40% against the Lady Bears this season.

Baylor ranks No. 1 in NCAA Division I statistics in field goal percentage defense (.306).

Baylor is 60-3 since the start of the 2009-10 season when allowing 60 or fewer points, including this year's 14-0 mark. The Lady Bears held 29 of 37 opponents to 60 or fewer points en route to sweeping the 2011 Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles and advancing to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight .
