IRVING, Texas - Baylor has clinched the 2013 Big 12 women's basketball regular season title with a five-game lead and just four conference games remaining.
The crown is the third straight and fourth overall for the Lady Bears. They are currently 24-1 on the season and 14-0 in league play with a non-conference date at No. 3/2 Connecticut Monday.
With its win over TCU on Saturday, Baylor extended its nation's-best home win streak to 53 games and its league record Big 12 Conference regular season win streak to 36 games. BU also holds the current longest overall win streak at 22 contests.
Iowa State and Texas Tech are currently tied for second in the Big 12 behind Baylor with 9-5 conference records. Oklahoma is 1/2 game behind ISU and TTU at 8-5.
The Big 12 plays a double round-robin 18-game conference schedule to determine its regular season champion. At the conclusion of league play, all 10 teams will travel to Dallas to compete in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship March 8-11 at the American Airlines Center.
