- Baylor's women's basketball team earned its first-ever No. 1 seed and will play in the Dallas Regional as they face 16th-seeded Prairie View A&M (21-11) on Sunday, March 20, at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas, the NCAA announced Monday night. Joining Baylor and Prairie View A&M in first-round action in Waco are eighth-seeded Houston (26-5) and West Virginia (23-9), a No. 9 seed.
The Houston/West Virginia game will tip at 4:10 p.m. (CT), while the Baylor/Prairie View contest will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. Both games will be televised on ESPN2.
Baylor is 31-2 on the season and ranked No. 3 in the final AP Poll. The Lady Bears will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the eighth straight year and 10th time in the last 11 years, while Prairie View A&M will be making its third NCAA Tournament appearance. The Lady Panthers, under first-year head coach Toyelle Wilson, won the SWAC Conference Tournament and earned the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Houston and West Virginia are making their fifth and seventh NCAA Tournament appearance, respectively. Houston is an at-large selection from Conference USA while West Virginia competes in the Big East Conference and received an at-large bid.
Baylor is 19-8 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, all coming under head coach Kim Mulkey. Baylor has won its first-round game in each of the last seven NCAA trips.
First-round winners will face off in second round action on Tuesday, March 22 at 8:30 p.m. (CT), and the winner of that game will advance to Dallas, to play either Michigan State, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Arkansas-Little Rock or the university of Northern Iowa on Sunday, March 27.
The 2010 Women's Final Four will be played April 3 and 5 at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
All-session tickets are $45 for adult reserved seats and $30 for youth; which includes a ticket for both sessions, a total of three games. Every person, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the facility.
