Freshman guard Alexis Prince will train with U18 National Team.

Baylor freshman guard Alexis Prince is one of 12 players reconvening for training camp in Colorado Springs, Colo., for the 2012 USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team. The team will hold training camp Aug. 4-11 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in preparation for upcoming FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Women.

Following its camp at the USOTC, the team will depart for San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Aug. 12 for the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, which will take place Aug. 15-19.

The 12-member squad includes Candice Agee* (Silverado H.S./Victorville, Calif.), Lexie Brown (North Gwinnett H.S./Suwanee, Ga.), Kendall Cooper (St. Anthony H.S./Carson, Calif.), Bashaara Graves (Clarksville H.S./Clarksville, Tenn.), Allisha Gray (Washington County H.S/Sandersville, Ga.), Moriah Jefferson (Texas Home Educators Sports Association/Glenn Heights, Texas), Michaela Mabrey (Manasquan H.S./Belmar, N.J.), Alexis Prince (Edgewater/Orlando, Fla.), Breanna Stewart (Cicero-North H.S./North Syracuse, N.Y.), Brittney Sykes (University H.S./Newark, N.J.), Morgan Tuck (Bolingbrook H.S./Bolingbrook, Ill.) and Jannah Tucker (New Town H.S./Randallstown, Md.).

Head coach Katie Meier (University of Miami) is assisted by Nikki Caldwell of Louisiana State University and Kelly Graves of Gonzaga University.

The team will conduct practices at the USOTC's Sports Center on Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Aug. 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10. On Aug. 8 and Aug. 11, only one practiced is scheduled at 10 a.m. All times listed are MDT.

The squad will practice in San Juan on Aug. 14. The USA has been placed in preliminary round Group A for the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship and will open against Dominican Republic on Aug. 15. The USA will play Argentina on Aug. 16 and then face Colombia on Aug. 17 to wrap up preliminary pool play.

The top two teams from each preliminary round group will be seeded and advance to the medal semifinals on Aug. 18. Winners of the semifinals will compete in the gold medal game to be played on Aug. 19.

 

 

The USA women are the reigning FIBA Americas U18 champion after going 5-0 to win gold in 2010.

*Agee was added to the 12-player roster to replace Imani Stafford (Windward School/Los Angeles, Calif.), who is unable to participate due to injury.
