COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Baylor women's basketball post Kalani Brown was selected to the 2017 USA Women's U23 National Team, USA Basketball announced on Friday afternoon. The junior is one of 12 players to represent the Red, White and Blue in the inaugural U23 Four Nations Tournament from August 12-15.
Brown will remain at the United State Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., to train with the team before departing on August 7 for Tokyo, Japan, for the international competition. The U23 Four Nations Tournament, which includes national teams from USA, Australia, Canada and Japan, will be held at Katayanai Arena.
Brown, who led the Big 12 in field goal percentage last season, was named a WBCA All-American and an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore. She was an unanimous All-Big 12 first team selection and a Big 12 All-Defensive Team pick after leading the Lady Bears in scoring (15.4 per game), rebounding (8.2 per game), field goal percentage (.679), free throw percentage (.760) and shot blocking (2.0).
The Slidell, La., native will represent Team USA for the third time, after playing for the 2013 U16 National Team and the gold medalist 2014 U16 National Team squad.
