GURABO, Puerto Rico - Baylor freshman Alexis Prince played an important role the 2012 USA U18 National Team's (5-0) 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship gold medal. The USA downed Brazil, 71-47, to claim the tournament title for the seventh time.

During the tournament, Prince, a 6-1 guard, was one of just four USA players to average double-digit scoring. The Orlando, Fla., native started four of the tournament's five games and averaged 10.6 points a contest and led the team in minutes played with 26.4 per outing and in steals with 15. She hauled down 5.6 rebounds a game while tallying 11 assists and three blocked shots and shot 49.0 percent (24-49) from the floor.

Since its inception in 1988, the American women have claimed seven gold medals (1988, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012) and two silver medals (1992, 1996), are now 43-2. Argentina (3-2) edged Canada (2-3) 53-49 in the bronze medal game.
