WACO, Texas - The inaugural 4Kay Golf Classic presented by Nike was held on Monday, September 8, 2008, at the Cowboys Golf Club in Dallas, Texas. Baylor Lady Bear basketball coaches Leon Barmore and Richard Barron participated in the event with Barmore taking home longest drive honors. They were joined by Lady Bear fans Bo Roberts and Bob Loftin and LPGA pro Missie McGeorge.

Over 150 coaches, friends and colleagues joined forces to raise funding for women's cancer research through the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund in partnership with The V Foundation. The attendees experienced laughter, special moments and a few tears as they showed their support for N.C. State head coach Kay Yow as she faces her third bout with breast cancer.

"Due to prior commitments with my children, I was not able to be present at the event. I was glad that Coach Barmore and Coach Barron were able to represent our program. It is such a worthy cause and Coach Yow is such a wonderful person, and she is so important to our sport. Everyone should do all they can to help in the fight against cancer, whether it's monetarily or by participating in events such as this," said Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey.

The Pairings Party presented by Plains Capital Bank was held on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the Embassy Suites Outdoor World. Beth Mowins and Debbie Antonelli did a live "Shootaround with Beth & Debbie" podcast followed by an auction, which included two autographed pink Nike N.C. State jerseys signed by Coach Yow, two autographed basketballs signed by the 2008 gold medal winning Olympic women's basketball team, and two autographed basketballs signed by National Championship head coaches Pat Summitt (Tennessee) and Bill Self (Kansas).

Nike (presenting sponsor of the Classic), Plains Capital Bank (presenting sponsor of the Pairings Party) and the University of Maryland (breakfast sponsor) were event sponsors.

The Classic served as the second national event with all proceeds benefiting the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The total amount raised through the Classic will be announced at a later date.
