WACO, Texas - The Baylor Lady Bears will appear on the ESPN family of networks five times, including a program-high two Big Monday telecasts, during the upcoming season as announced today by the Big 12 Conference. Baylor's five appearances mark the most by a Big 12 school this season.
Baylor's first ESPN appearance will be on Sunday, Nov. 27 when the Lady Bears take on the Tennessee Lady Vols in Knoxville, Tenn., on ESPN2 (1:30 p.m., CST). Two telecasts are scheduled for December as Baylor takes on St. John's in the Maggie Dixon Classic at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Dec. 11 (ESPNU, 10:30 a.m. CST) and hosts Connecticut on Dec. 18 (ESPN, 7:30 p.m.).
The Lady Bears made their first-ever ESPN Big Monday appearance last season when they hosted Texas A&M. This year Baylor will make two league appearances on Big Monday, hosting Oklahoma on Feb. 6 (8 p.m.) and playing at Texas A&M on Feb. 27 (6 p.m.). Both games will be telecast on ESPN2.
Coupled with yesterday's release of the league's FOX Sports Net schedule, the Big 12 television package will include a total of 35 appearances on national or regional television.
Baylor will appear on television a minimum of 11 times with the possibility of adding more national and regional broadcasts.
Additional broadcasts will be announced as they become available.
