Baylor and the St. Edward's Hilltoppers meet for the third straight season in an exhibition contest. The Lady Bears downed the Hilltoppers, 89-46, last season in Waco. The game marks Baylor's second exhibition game of the season, the Lady Bears cruised to a 94-24 victory over Western State College on Monday night.

The Lady Bears come into their second exhibition game of the season with 12 returning letterwinners, including four starters off last season's 34-3 squad, including Brittney Griner. The 6-8 sophomore post averaged 23.0 points and 7.8 rebounds during her sophomore season while earning consensus All-American, National Defensive Player of the Year and Big 12 Player of the Year honors. Joining Griner as returning starters are 2011 Big 12 Freshman of the Year Odyssey Sims, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Destiny Williams and Jordan Madden. The Lady Bears return 88.5 percent of their scoring and 89.9 percent of individual rebounds from last season's NCAA Elite Eight team.

Baylor got off to a hot start offensively and blew past Western State College, 94-24, in exhibition play on Monday night.

Five Baylor players scored in doubles figures, led by junior Destiny Williams' game-high 20 points. Junior Brittney Griner added 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, while sophomore guard Odyssey notched six assists and six steals. Senior post Ashley Field added 14 points and six rebounds and junior guard Kimetria Haydenpoured in 11 points.

The St. Edward's Hilltoppers, an NCAA Division II school in Austin, Texas, are members of the Heartland Conference. Thursday's game marks the Hilltoppers' second exhibition game as Maddie Wheeler scored 15 points in St. Edward's lost to cross-town foe Texas, 88-61, last Thursday evening at the Frank Erwin Center.

The Hilltoppers are led by head coach Jennifer White who is beginning her ninth season on the Austin campus. White is very familiar with Baylor's coaching staff as she played at Louisiana Tech beginning in 1979. While on the Ruston, La., campus, she was a member of the 1981 AIAW Division I and 1982 NCAA Division I national championship teams. After earning her master's degree at her alma mater, she was hired as an assistant coach by Leon Barmore and spent 1985 through 1990 with the Lady Techsters. Current Baylor head coach Kim Mulkeywas a Lady Techster assistant at that same time. In addition, White spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Texas under Jody Conradt.

The Field family, with a daughter in each uniform, will be divided on Thursday. Ashley, a 6-2 senior post, wears the green and gold of Baylor while her sister, Kendra, a 5-8 sophomore guard, will be donning the navy blue and vegas gold of St. Edward's.

Baylor will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 11, against Howard University when it hosts the Preseason Women's National Invitational. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
