BAYLOR VS. TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL
Baylor and the Texas A&M International Dustdevils meet for the first time in an exhibition contest. The game marks Baylor's second and final exhibition game of the season.
THE LADY BEARS
The Lady Bears come into their final exhibition contest after defeating St. Edward', 89-46, on Monday in the Ferrell Center.
Against St. Edward's, three Lady Bears contributed double-digit scoring. Sophomore post Brittney Griner led the Lady Bears with 28 points while junior post Ashley Field tallied 14 and junior guard Terran Condrey added 10. Sophomore forward Brooklyn Pope led all rebounders with 15 and Griner added 12. The Lady Bears dominated the boards, out-rebounding St. Edward's 56-24 while Baylor dished out 21 assists on 32 made buckets.
The Texas A&M International (TAMUI) Dustdevils, an NCAA Division II school in Laredo, Texas, are members of the Heartland Conference. Two starters and four letterwinners return from last year's squad that finished 5-23. The Dustdevils finished sixth in last season's Heartland Conference race at 4-10. They are picked to finish in fifth place in 2010-11. Head coach David Beaver begins his second season at the program's helm.
The Dustdevils have two exhibition contests under their belt this season. They lost at Nicholls State on Monday, 83-42, and were defeated by McNeese State, 83-49, on Tuesday. Former McLennan CC player Nikkiti Scott, a 6-0 junior center, led TAMUI against Nicholls State with 10 points, eight of which came from the free throw line. Johnna Williams, a 6-1 senior center, was the squad's top rebounder with nine and Scott followed with seven. Against McNeese State, Samantha Chacon, a 5-10 freshman guard, scored 13 points while Williams registered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
GAME TIMES FINALIZED
Saturday, Nov. 13, game times of the upcoming World Vision Invitational have been set. Officials had been waiting for finalization of Baylor's football game time that same day. Baylor women's basketball will take on Montana State at 12 p.m. while Florida International University and Rice will tip off at 2:30. The Baylor and Texas A&M football game will kick off at 6 p.m.
The Lady Bears open the home regular season for the second straight year hosting the World Vision Invitational. Joining Baylor for the Nov. 12-14 action will be Florida International University (14-16), Montana State (18-14) and Rice (13-17).
