WACO, Texas - Baylor head women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey announced the signing of MacArthur (Irving, Texas) High School star Odyssey Sims to a National Letter of Intent for the 2010-11 academic year Wednesday.
Sims, a 5-8 point guard, is ESPN.com's consensus No. 2 national recruit when averaging the rankings of All-Star Girls Report, Blue Star Basketball and ESPN HoopGurlz. In addition, she is listed at the nation's top-ranked player by Scout.com. and No. 4 by Collegiate Girls Report.
The left-handed speedster is listed as the nation's top point guard by ESPN HoopGurlz, Scout.com and Collegiate Girls Report and is ranked No. 2 by All-Star Girls Report.
"Odyssey is a player who plays both ends of the floor. It is impressive how much pride she takes in ball pressure and defense. She's an amazing talent with her speed, quickness and defensive pressure," Mulkey said.
As a junior Sims averaged 18.3 points, 7.2 assists and 5.8 steals per game. She earned Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) all-state recognition as well as TABC all-region honors. For the third straight season she was named District 7-5A MVP and first-team all-district.
