Guard Odyssey Sims led Baylor to four victories last week and was named ESPNW's National Player of the Week and also earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors for her efforts. Sims was honored by the Big 12 for the eighth time in her career and picked up her third player of the week recognition.
The Lady Bears defeated Rice on Monday and then Savannah State, Northwestern State and UTSA en route to the championship of the four-team Baylor-hosted Athletes in Action Classic.
The Irving, Texas, native averaged 27.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the week. She shot 52.1 (38-73) percent from the floor and 78.1 (25-32) percent from the free throw line. In addition, she only tallied four turnovers for the four games.
Sims, with 492 career assists, is just two dimes shy of becoming BU's all-time assist leader, Angela Tisdale (2004-08) holds the record with 493.
Sims has scored at least 20 points in seven straight games and has scored in double figures in the first half of every Baylor game so far this season.
