BU's Nov. 20 game vs. then-No. 2 Notre Dame marked the start of the most difficult regular-season stretch in school history. After defeating the Fighting Irish at home and Yale on Nov. 22, the Lady Bears defeated then-sixth-ranked Tennessee on Sunday, Nov. 27, in Knoxville and have a Dec. 18 home game against second-ranked UConn on the horizon.
Baylor is averaging a Big 12-leading 52.4 rebounds a contest, hauling down 50 or more seven times.
The Lady Bears rank No. 1 nationally in scoring offense (89.4), assists per game (21.6), blocked shots per game (8.9), No. 2 in scoring margin (37.5), field goal percentage defense (.285), No. 3 in assist/turnover ratio (1.47) and No. 4 in field goal percentage (.491).
In individual national statistics, Brittney Griner is No. 1 in blocks per game (5.1), No. 5 in field goal percentage (.628), No. 6 in points per game (23.9) and No. 11 in rebounds (11.0). Odyssey Sims is No. 4 in steals per game (4.4), No. 5 in assists per game (7.1) and No. 39 in scoring (18.8). Senior guard Terran Condrey ranks No. 10 in assist/turnover ratio (3.0).
Brittney Griner has registered 434 career blocked shots and needs 13 more rejections to break Oklahoma's Courtney Paris' Big 12 record of 446.
Brittney Griner ranks No. 8 on BU's career scoring chart with 1,687 points and needs 22 points to move into No. 7.
Baylor is the only school to have its women's basketball (No. 1), men's basketball (No. 6) and football (No. 12) teams ranked among the AP Top 25.
The Lady Bears are 46-4 over their last 50 games.
BU is bidding for its first 9-0 start since 2005-06 and just the sixth such opening in school history.

Brittney Griner's 434 career blocks rank her No. 6 on the NCAA Division I career block list, tied with Duke's Alison Bales. Griner needs 13 to pass No. 5 OU's Courtney Paris' 446, while IUPUI's Brooke McAfee sits at No. 4 with 447. St. Mary's (CA) Louella Tomlinson holds the all-time career mark with 663.
Baylor's Ferrell Center record in regular season, non-conference games under coach Mulkey is 92-1 (.989). During that 12-year span, Baylor's lone Ferrell Center loss came against 12th-ranked Purdue on Nov. 19, 2006, in the Preseason WNIT championship game. Since then, Baylor has won 53 straight non-league home games (including two 2011 NCAA Tournament contests).
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Located in Milwaukee, Wis., the Milwaukee Panthers enter the game with a 2-4 record after road wins over Western Illinois (79-66) and Bradley (71-67). Milwaukee's losses came to Wisconsin (68-51), Drake (63-51), Michigan State (70-57) and Western Michigan (69-63).
Sami Tucker, a 5-11 junior guard, leads the team in both scoring (14.3) and rebounding (8.8) while Courtney Lindfors, a 6-4 sophomore center, manages 12.0 a game and Angela Rodriguez, a 5-8 sophomore guard, scores 11.0 a contest.
The Panthers are coached by 16th-year head coach Sandy Botham. Botham is 245-208 (.541) in her 16 years along the Milwaukee sideline and 267-212 in 17 seasons as a head coach.
After playing the Lady Bears, the Panthers will travel up I35 to take on the Oklahoma Sooners on Sunday, Dec. 11.
LADY BEARS VS. THE HORIZON LEAGUE
Baylor is 2-1 vs. Horizon League members. The Lady Bears have posted wins over Illinois-Chicago and Green Bay and lost to Butler. The two victories have come under coach Mulkey. Baylor downed Illinois-Chicago in Honolulu, Hawai'i, on Dec. 8, 2001, 62-43, and defeated Green Bay in the 2011 NCAA Championship Sweet 16 in Dallas' American Airlines Center, 86-76.
A DEFENSIVE STATE OF MIND
Baylor hasn't allowed an opponent to shoot 50 percent from the field in 182 straight games, dating back to March 25, 2006, an 82-63 Sweet 16 loss to eventual national champion Maryland.
In 2010-11, BU held 14 of its 37 opponents to below a .300 field goal percentage.
This season, BU has held its opponents, including three ranked foes, to a .285 field goal percentage.
Baylor ranks No. 2 in NCAA Division I statistics in field goal percentage defense (.285).
THE GRINER EFFECT
With Brittney Griner's 6-8 presence in the paint and her ability to block shots, BU's opponents have increased their 3-point shot attempts since her arrival. In 2008-09, the year before Griner came to Baylor, BU opponents took 570 shots from beyond the arc, in 2009-10 foes took 740 treys and they took 750 last season.
So far this season, BU opponents have taken 154 (19.3 per game) shots beyond the arc.
